SOLD - Stone Gargoyle - Hilda
Gargoyles were originally designed in 13th century French architecture as a means of disposing water - a precursor to the gutter.
Gargoyles also had another function. As decorations up high, on the outside of churches and cathedrals where they were believed to ward off evil spirits.
Hilda is made of English stone from Devon. She has fabulous detailing and is heavy. She looks like she is contemplating life and look fantastic mounted in the garden or entranceway, where she will weather beautifully.
